The team was started by Ragnar and Erlingur who played basketball together at Menntaskólinn í Reykjavík in Reykjavík. After moving to Denmark, they tried to keep up with their interesst in Basketball and the NBA, though the timedifference made it hard to maintain work and watch the games.
At a Danish course Ragnar met Alexandre, who played in Hvidovre Basket Klub, for quite some time. However the players spoke in their native language, which killed the fun of the game. He joined up and we started practice street basket and the Danish guy Thomas joined up. He had a connection to a unnamed school where we could play during winter. The main goal is to have fun and enjoy the game, but we do play matches in street basket with other people.
The guiding rules are:
Game ends when one team has scored 16 points, or if 16 minutes pass. If none of the teams have reached 16 points in the match time, the winning team is the one leading when time expires. In the event of a tie, the match settled by "sudden death" - ie. the team that scores first is the winner. The sudden death starts the team with the ball, which did not start the match.
All goals within 3 points line count 1 point, and goals from the outside counts 2 points. Girl scores count double.
The game starts from the center line. Smallest player on the pitch starts with the ball. By similarity chosen by drawing. When a team has scored, the opponent receives the ball outside the 3 point line.
At mistakes by the attacking team, the defending team gets the ball outside the 3-point line. The defense must rebound the ball beyond the 3-point line before being attacked.
A player who commits faults, is expelled - and will come back on the track when one team has scored. The expelled player may want to replace the replacement player. Replacement can be done anytime when the ball is in play.
We practice at:
